A summer job teaches you which jobs you never want. That’s useful information too.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Ruling things out is real progress, even though it never feels like it. Three months of work you dislike tells you something precise about what you cannot tolerate: the noise, the standing, the lack of control over your own time. That is sharper information than a vague sense of what you might enjoy.
At the end of the job, write two short lists: what you would not do again and what you unexpectedly liked. Keep them somewhere you will find them in two years. Both are useful, and the first one is usually longer.
What did a job you disliked teach you about your own future?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
