If you hate a choice you made, make a new one. Just don’t pretend you didn’t make the first.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Both halves of this matter, and most people only manage one. You are not locked into a decision just because you made it, and you are also the person who made it, which is the part that gets quietly edited out. Owning it is not punishment, it is what lets you change course without the story that things merely happen to you.

Say the sentence plainly, even if only to yourself: I chose that, and now I am choosing something else. Then make the new choice concrete this week with one action. Skip the long explanation of why the first one was not really your fault.
