You don’t get to pick which small choice ends up mattering. So treat them all with some respect.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Looking back, one ordinary moment turns out to have mattered: the shift you covered, the message you sent, the day you showed up. At the time it was indistinguishable from everything around it, and no amount of attention would have flagged it. Since you cannot tell in advance which one it is, a general standard works better than a targeted effort.

Pick a low floor you can hold on an ordinary day: answer messages, keep the small promise, do the task properly when nobody checks. Keep it low enough to survive a bad week. You are only aiming to be consistent in case one of them counts.
