Fearless people don’t exist. Practiced people do.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Calm under pressure is not an absence of fear, it is familiarity. The people who look unshakeable are standing in a situation they have been in forty times, and what you are reading as temperament is a record of repetitions you did not see. That matters because temperament would be fixed and repetitions are available to anybody willing to be bad at something for a while.

Stop waiting for the fear to clear out before you count yourself ready. Count attempts instead, and notice that the fourth one at anything feels nothing like the first.
