Every time you do a scary thing and survive, your fear’s prediction record gets worse. Keep breaking its streak.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Fear makes forecasts and almost never checks them afterwards. It predicts humiliation, a cold reaction, a disaster you will not recover from, and then the thing happens and the prediction quietly goes unexamined. Each time you go ahead anyway, you collect one more piece of evidence against it. Avoidance is what keeps its record spotless, because nothing ever gets tested.

Write the prediction down before the next one, in its own words, then write what actually happened underneath. Keep both. A page of that is worth more than any amount of reassurance.
