Authority should increase accountability faster than privilege.

LEADERSHIP
The usual pattern runs the other way. Position brings privileges quickly, deference, exceptions, the benefit of the doubt, while accountability arrives slowly if at all. That gap is where most institutional rot begins, not through corruption but through the ordinary accumulation of unexamined advantage.
Wherever you have moved up, add a check on yourself that nobody required. Someone who can tell you no, a decision you explain, a standard you apply to yourself first. Voluntary accountability is the only kind that arrives on time.
What extra answering do you owe for the position you hold?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
