Asking a stranger to show you how they did something is free coaching. A lot of people like being asked.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Expertise is usually sitting right next to you, unused, because asking feels like an imposition. In practice most people enjoy being asked about the thing they are good at, since it is one of the few times anybody takes an interest. What you get in two minutes can save you weeks of guessing on your own. The only real cost is the second of nerve before you open your mouth.

Ask one person this week to show you something you have been working out alone. Be specific about what you want to see, and thank them with more than a vague compliment.
