Being the one who apologizes for the whole group when something goes wrong is leadership nobody voted for.
LEADERSHIP
LEADERSHIP
When something goes wrong in a group there is usually a pause while everyone waits for somebody else to speak. Stepping into that pause means absorbing blame that was not only yours, which feels unfair because it is. It also ends the problem, which nobody else was going to do. That is leadership without a title, and the people in the room remember who did it.
If it happens this week, keep it short: what went wrong, that you are sorry, what happens next. Do not name who caused it, and handle that part privately afterward.
When did you apologize for a group that stayed silent?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
