Writing your goal on paper and showing someone is a risk. Now they’ll know if you don’t do it. That’s the point.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
A goal kept private can be quietly revised downwards at any time, and usually is. Telling someone removes that exit, which is the uncomfortable part and also the whole mechanism. You are deliberately buying a witness, so that quitting becomes a conversation instead of a shrug. The risk of looking like someone who did not follow through is doing useful work on your behalf.
Write one goal in a single sentence with a date on it, and give it to a person who will actually ask. Pick someone who will check in rather than someone who will be nice about it. Agree now on when they will ask you.
Who could you show your goal to so it becomes real?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
