Edit like a stranger. Your attachment to a line is not a reason to keep it.

CREATIVITY
Attachment is a record of your effort, not of quality. A line you fought for feels valuable because of what it cost you, and a reader has no access to that history, so all they experience is whether it works. Editing well means briefly dropping the memory of making it. The question is never whether you love it, only whether it earns its place.
Leave your draft alone for a day, then read it as though somebody else wrote it and you are deciding whether to keep going. Mark where your attention slips. Cut one thing you are proud of if it is not pulling weight.
Are you keeping a line only because you wrote it?
