Don’t sand down your weird parts to fit the trend. The trend will change. You’ll still be weird.

Trends are temporary and your oddities are not. Filing yourself down to match what is popular costs you the only thing that is genuinely hard to copy, and by the time the sanding is done the trend has usually moved on. What feels like a liability at sixteen is often the signature later. Fitting in is a short-term strategy with a long-term bill.

Name the thing about your work you have been quietly hiding because it does not match. Put it back into the next piece on purpose. Watch who responds to that part specifically.
