Nobody is born with good taste. You build it by noticing why you like what you like.

Taste is built by paying attention to your own reactions. Liking something is the easy part, and the work is asking what specifically did it, the pacing, the colour, the way a line ended, because until you can name it you cannot use it. People who seem to have been born with judgement have usually just been doing that for years. It is a practice rather than a gift.

Next time something moves you, stop and write two sentences on exactly what did the moving. Do the same for something you dislike. Keep the notes and read them back in a few months.
