An original idea often sounds a little stupid out loud the first time. That alone isn’t proof it’s bad.

Unfamiliar ideas have no company. Anything genuinely new arrives without the social backing that makes a sensible idea sound sensible, so it comes out of your mouth thin and slightly ridiculous even when it is good. That awkwardness measures novelty rather than quality. Dropping an idea because saying it felt embarrassing throws away the only kind worth having.
When something of yours sounds silly out loud, write it down before you abandon it. Describe it a second time, more plainly, and see whether it survives. Give the awkward ones a week before you decide.
