Barre chords sound awful for weeks, and then one day they don’t. Nobody can tell you which day.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Some progress stays invisible until it arrives. Your fingers are building strength and tiny positional corrections that produce no audible improvement for a long time, and then a threshold gets crossed and the chord rings. Because nobody can predict which day that is, the only honest strategy is to keep going while it still sounds bad. The ugly weeks are not evidence that you are failing.

Decide in advance how long you will stay with the thing that sounds wrong, and make it longer than feels reasonable. Four weeks, five minutes a day. Keep a mark on a calendar so the time is visible even when the sound is not.
