Bees hold their brood nest at about 35°C, hot day or cold. Some standards don’t move with the weather.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Inside a hive the nursery stays at one temperature whatever the weather outside is doing, with bees fanning or clustering as needed, because the young cannot survive the swing. Some standards work like that, held constant by effort precisely because conditions change. Deciding in advance which of yours do not move is what makes them standards rather than preferences. Everything else is free to flex.

Name two things you will keep steady regardless of how a week goes. How you speak to people, turning up, being honest about what you finished. Let the rest adjust, and notice how much easier small decisions get once the fixed ones are settled.
