You learn a lot about someone from how they return a borrowed thing.

Small moments with no stakes are where character shows, because there is nothing to perform for. Handing something back clean and on time, or leaving it worse and saying nothing, is a quick and surprisingly accurate signal about how somebody treats obligations generally. People are fairly consistent across scales. You are being read in these moments as much as you are reading others.

Notice how people return things this week, and notice how you do it. Give back anything you are holding, properly, before you are asked. If you have broken something, say so first rather than hoping it goes unmentioned.
