Wet hay can heat up and catch fire in the barn. Rushing a job before it’s ready isn’t speed. It’s a hazard.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Packing something away before it is ready stores the problem rather than finishing the job, and some stored problems get worse on their own. Damp hay generates its own heat inside the stack, and unfinished work put out of sight does not sit still either. Speed that skips the drying is not speed. It is a cost moved somewhere you are not looking.

Find the thing you rushed and put away, and check whether it was actually ready. Finish it or dry it or test it now. When you are tempted to hurry a last step, ask what happens if it was not done.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Where did hurrying something unfinished create a bigger problem for you?
