Forgiving yourself isn’t letting yourself off the hook. It’s letting yourself back in the room.

GRATITUDE
Refusing to forgive yourself can feel like integrity and usually works as a way of staying out of the room. Keeping yourself in permanent disgrace removes you from the people you could be making amends to, and from the work of being different, which is the part that actually matters. Self-punishment is not repair. Coming back in and doing better is.
If you are holding something against yourself, ask what repair would look like and do a piece of it this week. Then let yourself rejoin whatever you have been avoiding: the room, the group, the conversation. Keep the standard and drop the sentence.
Have you kept yourself out of something since you failed?
