Nobody starts with a calling that looks impressive. Most start with a name tag.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Beginnings are almost always small and labeled. You start with a lanyard, a shift, a folding chair, a job where someone else tells you what to carry. The impressive version of a life gets built out of that, not handed down instead of it. Nobody skips the part where you learn to be reliable in something nobody is watching.

This weekend, at the shift or the practice or the chore, pick the least interesting task in front of you and do it properly. Notice what you learn about yourself while doing it, because that is the part that follows you into the next thing.
