Two different things are being asked of you at once and they do not pay the same. The shift covers your phone bill and your petrol; the thing you suspect you are for covers none of it yet. People waste years resenting the first for not being the second. The job is not the obstacle to the calling, it is the floor the calling gets to stand on while it is still small.
This week, stop describing your job as the thing getting in the way. Do it well, bank what you can, and give the other thing one honest hour.
