A day of rest isn’t a rule to make you less productive. It’s a gift to remind you you’re not a machine.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Worth gets quietly attached to output, and then a day off becomes something you have to earn with a sufficiently exhausting week. A regular stop built into the pattern of things says the opposite: you are not a machine whose value is measured in units produced. The day is not a restriction placed on your productivity. It is permission to exist without producing anything for a while.

Take one day this week where you deliberately make nothing and finish nothing. No catching up, no getting ahead. Notice the discomfort, and notice that you are still the same person by evening.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Do you believe you are more than what you produce?
