Time with God isn’t another task to check off. It’s the thing that makes the list make sense.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Anything that goes on a list starts competing with the list. Treated as another box, time with God becomes one more thing you are behind on, and getting behind on it produces guilt rather than anything useful. It belongs in a different category. It is the part that tells you why the rest of the items matter and which of them you can safely drop.

Put it before the list this week rather than inside it. Ten minutes at the start of the day, no reading of messages first. Then write your list afterwards and see whether it comes out shorter.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Does your quiet time sit on your list like homework?
