Praying for your rival in general is easy. Praying they get the spot you wanted is the real test.

General goodwill is cheap and we hide behind it constantly. Wishing somebody well in the abstract costs nothing, because the abstract version never actually takes anything from you. The specific version is the test: asking that they get the place, the start, the part, the one thing you wanted for yourself. That is where you find out what your goodwill is really made of.

Name the exact thing this week. Say it properly, with the specific outcome in it, even though your whole chest objects. Then go and compete for it as hard as you were going to anyway.
