Volunteering in the church nursery is holy work. Diapers included.

GRATITUDE
Nobody gets credit for the jobs that involve bodily fluids. Watching small children is relentless, unglamorous and completely invisible from the main room, and it is also the only reason the adults in that room can concentrate. Work being undignified does not make it unimportant. It mostly means fewer people are competing for it.
Take a shift at the thing nobody volunteers for this week. Nursery, clear-up, bins, the early slot. Do the whole hour properly rather than most of it well, and notice who was doing it before you turned up.
Would you take the messy volunteer job if asked tomorrow?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
