God is not pacing the floor about your future. You’re allowed to sit down too.

Nobody is anxious about your future except you. That is worth sitting with if your particular form of pressure involves a sense that everything depends on getting the next decision exactly right and that the universe is holding its breath. The future is not an emergency being managed in real time. You are allowed to sit down in the middle of it without the whole thing collapsing.

Do one hour this week with no planning in it at all. No lists, no research, no career thinking. Sit down and let it be somebody else’s problem for sixty minutes.
