Telling God “whatever You think is best” is the scariest prayer there is, because you have to mean it.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Handing over the outcome sounds humble until you notice it means dropping the version you were holding on to. Most requests come with a preferred answer attached. Saying you will take whatever comes is frightening because it admits you are not in charge, and the answer might be the one you were arguing against. The same test shows up anywhere you claim to be open to an unwanted result.

Settle on one thing you are hoping for and name the result you want. Then write what you would do if it went the other way. A real answer to the second question makes the first one safe to hold loosely.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which outcome are you unwilling to actually leave up to anyone?
