Faith isn’t proven by how loudly you argue online. It shows up in how you treat the person you disagree with.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Winning an argument in public and holding a conviction are separate activities that look similar from a distance. Volume reads as certainty and is usually just volume. What reveals more is the next thirty seconds: whether you let them finish, whether you repeat their point fairly, whether you stay civil once you are winning. Anyone can state a position; not everyone can be decent while doing it.

Take one argument you are in now, online or at school, and set a rule for yourself. No sarcasm, and no quoting someone out of context. See whether you can be the most reasonable person in the exchange.
