Paul and Silas were singing in a jail cell at midnight. You don’t need good circumstances to have a good song.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Two men in the worst possible accommodation are singing, which is either absurd or the most practical thing available to them. Nothing about their situation had improved. What they did was refuse to let the conditions dictate the entire contents of the night. Circumstances set the facts and have less say over the soundtrack than people assume.

On a bad evening this week, put something on and let the room have a different atmosphere than the day earned. Play the thing you actually like, loudly if you can. It will not fix anything and it is not supposed to.
