Sometimes the honest prayer about a person is “change how I see them,” not “change them.”

One of those two requests can actually be answered, and it is not the popular one. Asking for somebody else to change puts the whole thing out of reach and leaves you waiting. Asking to see them differently works on the part you have access to, and it frequently turns out that the person was never the entire problem. That is uncomfortable, which is why the honest version is rarer.
