Your older sibling went first and took the hits so the rules were softer by the time you got there.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Rules in a family are usually written on somebody’s back. The curfew you argue over was argued over once already, by someone who lost, and the loss moved the line a little. Firsts are expensive for whoever goes first. By the time you arrive, much of the fight has already happened out of sight.

Ask your older sibling what they had to push for that you simply inherited. You will probably hear a story you never knew. If you are the oldest, notice the same thing happening behind you, and spend some of it on purpose.
