Thank whoever made your childhood boring. Predictable dinners and the same bedtime took a lot of work.

A boring childhood is an achievement that looks like an absence. Dinner at the same time, a bedtime that held, nothing dramatic happening: all of it requires somebody managing money, work, moods and logistics so the week keeps its shape. The reward for doing it well is that you remember nothing much.
Say thank you for the dullness, which is a strange sentence and lands anyway. Ask what was going on behind it in a particular year, since there was usually more. And if your own childhood was not steady, you are allowed to want it for somebody else.
What was predictable about your childhood that took real effort?
