Absence creates questions no answer can make fully satisfying.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Loss leaves a set of questions that no information can close. Why then, whether they knew, what the last conversation really meant, whether anything could have gone differently. Even a full and honest answer would not settle the feeling underneath, because the question is not really a request for facts. It is the mind circling something it cannot accept.

When you notice the same question looping, try treating it as grief rather than as a problem with a solution. Say it out loud to someone who will not rush to answer it. Questions that cannot be resolved can still be shared, and sharing takes some of the pressure out.
