Your sneakers squeak on a gym floor someone mopped at 6 a.m. That’s not nothing.

The gym floor is clean because somebody came in before anybody else. The squeak under your shoe is evidence of a person who started work in the dark so your practice could begin on time in a room that was ready. Nothing about preparation stays visible once it has been done properly. That is the structure of most of the work holding a school together.

Get in early once this week and see who is already there. Say good morning. Then leave the space the way you would want to find it, which is the simplest thanks available.
