You’re allowed to come back to a hobby ten years later. It usually still has a seat for you.

Nobody takes the hobby away from you. There is no rule that a gap disqualifies you and the room is almost always still open to beginners who used to be better. The gate is one you built yourself out of the idea that you forfeited your place by stopping. Your hands will be rusty for a fortnight and then they will not be.

Go and find the thing this week: the case under the bed, the box in the loft, the old account. Give it twenty minutes with no plan to be good at it yet.
