Reinvention isn’t a movie montage. It’s a lot of ordinary Wednesdays that nobody scores with music.

A montage exists to skip the part that actually does the work. On screen the change takes ninety seconds and comes with music, so you expect to feel transformed in the middle of it, and instead the middle feels like nothing at all. Ordinary Wednesdays are what a different person is built out of.

So measure by count, not by feeling. Did you do it on Wednesday, and the Wednesday before. Keep a line on a page or a mark on a calendar, and stop asking yourself whether you feel different yet.
