Leaving is the visible option, and visible options get mistaken for brave ones. Sometimes a move is the easier thing: nobody there knows the old version, nothing has to be repaired, and you get a clean story. Staying and changing in front of the people who remember exactly who you were is harder and nobody applauds it.

If you are weighing it, ask what you would actually change if you stayed. Write that list before you price any flights. Sometimes it turns out the thing you needed to leave was a habit rather than a town.
