Becoming an older sibling turns you into a teacher before you even signed up. Patience is part of the job now.

Nobody asks whether you wanted the job. A younger child watches how you do things and copies the parts you are not choosing to demonstrate, so you end up teaching tone and temper as much as shoelaces. The hard part is that patience is now part of the role, and patience is a skill rather than a mood.

Pick one thing to teach them properly this month, slowly, with them doing it badly. Let it take four attempts without you taking over. You are practising the patience more than they are practising the task.
