Starting anywhere new resets you to not knowing where anything is or how anything works, regardless of what you can do. For a few weeks you will ask questions a child could answer, and the discomfort of that is about your own expectations rather than anybody else’s. Everyone in the building went through the same fortnight.
Ask the small questions quickly instead of working them out slowly on your own. Where things are kept, who to go to, what the unwritten rules are. The short period of looking clueless buys you months of not being lost.
Which basic question do you feel too old to ask?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
