Ending something on purpose is a skill. Most people only know how to let things fade.

Fading is the default because it requires nothing: you stop replying, stop turning up, let the thing dissolve without anybody having to say a word. It is easier in the moment and it leaves both people without a clear account of what happened. Ending something deliberately is harder, briefly awkward, and much cleaner for everybody.
Take one thing you have been letting drift and finish it properly instead. A club you stopped attending, a job, a conversation you owe. One short message that says it is ending and thanks them, rather than six months of silence.
Did you let something fade that deserved a proper ending?
