Some advice is right for fourteen and wrong for twenty. Keep checking if it still fits.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Advice is given for a particular person in a particular situation, and both of those expire. Keep your head down, do not trust anyone, always say yes to extra shifts: each may have been sound once and become a limit later. The trouble is that good advice turns into a rule and rules stop being examined.

Take one piece of guidance you still follow automatically and check whether it fits now. Who gave it to you, what it was for, whether that situation still exists. Keep what holds up and retire the rest without resentment.
