Most adults are still figuring out who they are. The goal isn’t to finish. It’s to get better at the figuring.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

The idea that adults arrive at a settled answer is a story told to children. People keep revising themselves at thirty and at sixty, and the confident ones are usually just further along in the practice of asking rather than finished with it. Expecting to be done by twenty makes an ordinary process feel like falling behind.

Rather than chasing a final answer, get better at the method: notice what you enjoy, keep what works, drop what does not, ask people who know you. Review it every few months instead of every day. Unfinished is the normal condition.
