Reciprocity does not require equal acts, only mutual care.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Balance in a friendship is not a ledger of matched favors. One person may have more money, more time, more capacity in a given year, and the reciprocity that matters is whether both are actually paying attention to the other. Insisting on equal acts turns a friendship into an account. What needs to be mutual is the caring, not the arithmetic.

Stop tallying who did what and ask instead whether both of you notice when the other is struggling. If the answer is yes, the imbalance in tasks probably does not matter. If it is no, that is the real problem.
