Calling out a teammate in front of everyone teaches the whole team to hide their mistakes.

LEADERSHIP
A public correction is aimed at one person and lands on everybody present. The lesson they all take is not the technical point, it is that mistakes are expensive to be seen having, so the sensible move is concealment. A group that hides errors finds out about problems late, when they cost the most.
Say it to the one person, afterwards, and keep it short. In front of the group, name what you want more of rather than what went wrong. People who feel safe admitting things will tell you about the problem while it is still small.
Who did you correct publicly when a quiet word would do?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
