Give credit in public and it comes back as loyalty. Hoard it and it comes back as silence.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Recognition behaves like a loop rather than a payment. People who get named publicly will extend themselves again, partly because it felt good and partly because they can see it is safe to let you speak for their work. People who watch their contribution get absorbed into your account simply stop contributing, and nobody announces that decision.

Say one person’s name out loud this week, in front of whoever matters, for something specific they did. Do it when you could easily have taken the whole thing. The silence you avoid is the kind you would never have noticed arriving.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Whose name could you say out loud in front of others?
