When your friend group splits, someone has to keep talking to both sides. That’s leadership with no title.
LEADERSHIP
LEADERSHIP
When a group breaks, most people pick a side quickly because it is simpler and it feels like loyalty. Someone staying in contact with both halves is often the only reason the split stays a split instead of hardening, and that person usually gets accused of disloyalty by both sides for a while. It is an uncomfortable spot that holds a lot together.
If you can stand it, keep answering messages from both sides without carrying news between them. Do not make either one justify themselves to you. Time does more of this work than you can, and you are keeping the door open while it does.
After a falling out, which side did you quietly stop calling?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
