Leading people older than you works when you ask for their experience instead of hiding from it.

Age makes authority awkward in both directions, and the usual instinct is to compensate by acting more certain than you are. That fails, because the gap is obvious and pretending otherwise reads as nerves. Asking for their experience turns the thing you were worried about into the thing that helps you, and it costs you no standing at all.
Go to the longest-standing person on your team and ask about something they have seen that you have not. Use what they tell you where they can see you using it. Being the one who asks is not the same as not being in charge.
