When nobody’s having fun anymore, people start drifting away. Protecting the fun is part of the job.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Enjoyment is not a side effect, it is part of what holds people’s commitment together, and when it goes they start finding reasons not to come. That drift is rarely announced, since attendance simply thins and nobody names the real cause. Protecting the part people actually like is a responsibility rather than an indulgence.

Notice whether anybody has laughed at your practice or your shift lately. If not, put one enjoyable thing back in deliberately, even a small one. Keep the standard exactly where it is and make the hour worth attending.
