Kids follow the counselor who learns their names on day one, not the one with the loudest whistle.
LEADERSHIP
LEADERSHIP
Volume gets attention and names get trust, and the two are regularly confused by people who are nervous about being in charge. Learning somebody’s name on the first day tells them they are a person here rather than a head to be counted, which is the whole basis of being willing to follow you. Loudness only ever establishes that you are loud.
Learn every name before the end of the first day, and use them out loud. If you forget one, ask again instead of avoiding that person. It is the cheapest piece of leadership there is and hardly anybody does it properly.
Whose name have you still not learned after weeks together?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
