Explain the “why” once. Explain the “how” as many times as it takes.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Reasons tend to land the first time, because people only have to believe the thing matters. Procedure is different. It has steps, and steps fall out of your head under pressure. Getting impatient about repeating the how punishes people for being normal, and most of what looks like not listening is just a detail that did not stick.

When somebody asks the same question twice, answer it plainly and then write the answer where they can find it. A sticky note or a pinned message beats another explanation. Save your energy for the single conversation about why any of it matters.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Do you get impatient repeating steps people genuinely need again?
