Real influence is being the friend whose “you sure?” makes someone rethink a bad idea.

LEADERSHIP
Influence usually gets measured in attention, but the version that matters is much quieter. It is holding enough credit with somebody that two words can slow them down at the moment it counts. That only works if you have not spent the friendship on lectures, and if your warnings have been rare enough to mean something. Being listened to is a balance you build and then do not waste.
Save your objection for the things that genuinely worry you and let the small stuff go. When you do raise it, ask a question rather than hand down a verdict. If they go ahead anyway, stay their friend.
Whose bad idea have you talked them out of lately?
